Ethan knows fairly little about PistolPanic, directly. As it stands, he is at once an irritation and a curiosity. FlickerFox is by far the strongest universal agent RIPPER has, and PistolPanic is the first (possibly the last) to almost be able to keep up with him. In Ethan's mind, there's little about him that's worth taking the time to learn - not because he couldn't use the information but because if he's overcome, then it's his time. If PistolPanic wants to keep opposing him, he'll meet him at every turn. He doesn't, in his mind, need a full dissertation on the man to do that.
PistolPanic wasn't even a question in Ethan's mind before he lost Lilly; he doesn't know whether it's because of his switching to accepting assassination jobs that he ran into Panic for the first time or if GRAFT hired him because no one else could keep up with Ethan himself.
"also fuck you for thinking i can't take this thing down and piss in your cheerios at the same time"
The only way Ethan knows Darren is as PistolPanic. That is, largely, the only way he wants to know Darren. PistolPanic is the perpetual ceiling looming over Ethan's head, and he has been since he'd cost the man his job a few years prior.
PistolPanic is the reason that Ethan took up the handle Foxhunt, so that he could pursue the hacker into his everyday life. Unfortunately, counterpoint to his original self, Darren trumps him at every turn, slamming the proverbial door in his face. It's done nothing to make his obsession any less, and indeed has fueled him to step up his learning.
Though Ethan is much more proper-speaking than Panic, the two exchange blows fairly evenly on the whole - regardless of how much Panic would have anyone think Ethan can't possibly keep up.
