      Disposition:
      • Logic-minded: Ethan processes the world in a way that's almost problematically based in logic. He struggles with emotional responses as a whole, partly because he's just bad at emotion and partly because he has a modification-caused condition called Logic Amalgam that sometimes makes him occasionally incapable of understanding the emotional or non-logical reason for something. Because of this, Ethan has a tendency to make agreements with individuals despite their poor relationships with others, even within their company, and struggles to understand why that offends one side or the other. This is most notably seen in his canon where he's the only one who can work with one of his company's agents, BellWraith, who is known to be both violent and sociopathic. Compared to his other coworkers, Ethan barely bats a lash at the agent's cruelty, preferring to worry about the work getting done instead of the violence. When asked how he can manage this, Ethan's always been vaguely perplexed because despite the fact that he doesn't condone Wraith's actions, he doesn't think that it's necessary to accept him in order to work with him.
      • Stubborn: With his beliefs set as firmly as they are, it's almost impossible to convince Ethan he's wrong about something he feels strongly about. Particularly, he firmly believes that death is sometimes a necessary evil when it comes to corruption and individuals the law cannot or will not punish. He also firmly believes that by choosing to administer that necessary evil, you're accepting the fact that you're also someone who both deserves to, and will eventually, be stopped. This makes him both incredibly hard to sway and incredibly hard to get along with, if you sit in opposition to those beliefs. More than once in his relatively short lifetime, Ethan's been offered work by the very corrupt companies he works against - and while they don't know who he actually is, he's always firmly and strongly denied them under no uncertain terms that it's those corrupt policies and actions that turn him away.
      • Loyal: If you manage to be someone Ethan bonds to, he's one of the most loyal people you can meet. This, of course, contrasts somewhat with his stubbornness - if he does something wrong, he isn't always able to understand and thus fix it immediately. Still, even if he's angered someone, he's the type to be at their side regardless - even to his own detriment. He dislikes the idea that he'd have to leave a location without his partner, and thus far has kept a pristine "no one left behind" record. Currently, he only has one person who he would personally give his life for - his employer, who is the same one who's helped care for Ethan with his condition, and gently stopped him from continuing with his de facto suicide attempt following the death of his sister.
      • Martyr: More than once, Ethan's made the decision that his life is worth less than others. He'll push himself harder, try more, believing that since he's already lost everything, he can take that risk. As mentioned prior, he believes wholesale that what he's doing is morally ambiguous at best, and that he'll end up dead or worse one day - which he's decided is the best ending for everyone involved. He struggles to accept that his employer and many of his coworkers care deeply about his wellbeing, despite their very plain and earnest feelings.
      • Lonely: Despite all considerations to the contrary, Ethan also does have an extremely strong wish to form bonds with others. He's struggled against this idea since the death of his sister at the hands of his most major enemy, under circumstances he still blames himself fully for causing. While he can't handle groups well, he enjoys listening to individuals without tending to be too friendly - both their words and their sound/colour as they relate to his synesthesia. His loneliness is mostly self-imposed, and a frequent response to his martyrlike habits and inability to really understand his own emotions, let alone the emotions of others. Most days, he calls it a win if he hasn't pissed someone off by the end of working with them.

Under pressure: Ethan is motivated by his want to protect others and take down corrupt companies. He's the type to push himself when things are tough. If he's struggling, he's the type to remind himself of the things at stake in order to keep moving. Unafraid to take an injury if it means he gets what he needs, he'll risk wrecking his body. This will remain true in a situation like Noctium - though his attention will actually be able to shift to the idea of being able to have bonds, deep or shallow, with others. He'll be resistant at first, struggling with the idea that he's not worthy or allowed to have those deep emotional connections. He'll still tend to connect with people and be disproportionately protective of them, sometimes even habitually putting himself into dangerous situations while yelling at them to leave.

Condition upon arrival: As healthy as he can be. Ethan suffers from genetic aplastic anemia, which leaves him weak-bodied, prone to illness and injury, and quick to become winded. This is generally handled via medication and transfusions, with the latter happening approximately every 3 months for continued healthy function.

      Abilities:
      • Hacking: Ethan's main skill base. He's got a knack for computers and uses it well, having been part of the hacking scene since he was 13. Even when dealing with unknown code, he's typically quick to learn how to properly use it, even if mastery takes a good while.
      • Machine building: Ethan's the one who build most of the HUDs for his hacking group. He enjoys creating small machinery, especially machinery that requires some coding to make work.
      • Avatar Manifestation: Though not something he's strong at, Ethan's capable of actually manifesting his virtual avatar in real space, thanks to the way nanites and EntraDermaLinks work. This is a risky thing to do, as while it gives him access to FlickerFox's abilities, it also forces his consciousness from his physical body, and so is usually more dangerous than helpful. Because of the way it works, it also has a fair chance to actively injure him rather than properly manifesting her form.
      • Avatar (within Cyberspace/VR): Ethan's avatar, FlickerFox, possesses skills generally useful for hacking, stealth, and protection. Specifically, her form contains a set of paneled wings that act as sound and sight dampeners, effectively making her able to completely disappear within her surroundings. She's sturdy but refined, built for speed over attack or even defense.

Inventory: His normal clothes, plus his HUD glove and headphones.

      Gembond: Amethyst
Gem Location: Base of his throat

Notes: As mentioned, Ethan's got a genetic condition. It's not life-threatening on its own when properly taken care of, but it does require a particularly clean living environment, medication, and frequent blood transfusions to keep in check.
