I guess that makes sense enough, though. I wonder if there was some occasion for it even asking, though.

[Why couldn't the skeleton show up and give him things when he was awake?]

[This place never does anything on a decent schedule, does it? Half the time it's like it's aiming to be annoying altogether.]

[... He's almost definitely being kind of a gremlin now. It's still a valid thought, though!]

[Look, if you're going to be a gremlin, expect some sass back.]
and you know, i could complain about it, but i got a gun out of it in the end so i guess it was worth it.

[He doesn't mind!! It just might turn out Depressing as he goes.]
I mean, that's fair. You could just strongly suggest that they ask the skeleton to make sure someone was awake before scaring the daylights out of them, then.

[He knows that isn't what Ethan meant.]
not really my problem if the skeleton wants to bother other people while they're sleeping. you can go complain about it if you want. everyone's got a birthday, right?

[Jackass.]
I mean, yeah. Never really think about that much either. Way too much to do at home, nobody to celebrate with anymore.

[And he did, in fact, ask the skeleton what the catch was.]
never bothered telling anyone my birthday back home, besides my wife. and i told her no goddamn parties, either. got the feeling my friends would try throwing me one, so i just never told them when it was. worked out pretty well.

And that makes sense. Didn't really have anyone who would do the same, I don't think, but parties never meant much either.
no subject
parties just not a thing where you're from? lucky.

Not so much that they're not a thing, though. More like I just don't really have any friends or family to speak of, and it was never really a priority when I did.
